  1. Plumbago indica L. in Stickm., Herb. Amboin. (1754) 24; Merr., Fl. Manila (1912) 362; EPFP 3 (1921) 275; Steenis, Fl. Males. ser. 1, 4 (1949) 111. = Plumbago rosea L., Sp. Pl. ed. 2 (1762) 215; Merr., Fl. Manila (1912) 362. Distribution: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Java, Laos, Lesser Sunda Isls, Moluccas, Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Thailand, Vietnam. LUZON: NCR, PALAWAN. Notes: Merrill (1923) did not consider this species native to the Philippines and wrote that it was introduced as an ornamental, sometimes persistent in abandoned cultivation. Van Steenis (1949) suggested that it is probably native in SE Asia, but also noted that it is always found in anthropogenic localities in Malesia. We therefore do not consider this species native to the Philippines. Naturalized.
